May 12 7:30 pm

Since its founding in 1960, the DC Youth Orchestra Program has inspired generations of talented young musicians. On Tuesday, May 12, DCYOP’s Young Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra will present their inaugural Generations concert, a celebration of DCYOP’s legacy and the impact of music.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Evan Ross Solomon, Generations will feature the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Kurt Weill, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. The 47 student performers will be joined by special guest Chris Royal, a 1st Generation DCYOP Alum, Board Member, Howard University professor, and accomplished professional trumpet player.

The Generations concert is designed to celebrate DCYOP’s past, present, and future, and this year’s special guest alum embodies the impact of participation in the DC Youth Orchestra Program. Prepare to be inspired at this first annual event – reserve your seat at the Atlas Performing Arts Center today!

DCYOP is unique in its ongoing commitment to finding a place for every child. Over 700 students of all ages come together each week in 10 different community-wide orchestras, 5 after-school programs, and dozens of beginning group instrument classes.
