Glade Dance Collective

The NACHMO DC Sampler Showcase presents a selection of world premieres by local choreographers who have created a new work during the NACHMO January Challenge. Each year, the NACHMO January Challenge energizes the DC dance community by challenging local choreographers to create short works in the concentrated period of one month. The NACHMO DC Sampler Showcase presents a selection of pieces from the 2025 January Challenge to debut their new pieces.

Based in Washington, DC, Glade Dance Collective is a modern dance company dedicated to collaboration—with audiences, with other artists, and most importantly with each other. Its three members–Lauren Borchard, Betsy Loikow, and Sarah Raker–value a collective process that draws together people from diverse artistic backgrounds, and we create opportunities to share our collective process, dance knowledge, and skills with our community through open classes, workshops, and community-focused projects.

In addition to creating and performing original works throughout the DMV, Glade is dedicated to coordinating and producing the NACHMO DC January Challenge. Held annually since 2015, the NACHMO January Challenge invites choreographers to engage in the intensive creative process of making a brand new dance in just one month and offers an opportunity to premier their new piece to the public in a final showcase. NACHMO was originally founded in New York in 2010 and has regional hubs throughout the United States.”
