Joy of Motion Dance Center presents Ominous by Derek Brown

8:00 PM OMINOUS – THE MAIN EVENT
Directed and choreographed by Derek Brown, OMINOUS is a spectacular dansical of terror, ideal for the Hallo-weekend. Dancers in the dark will startle and dazzle — while the audience hunts for ghosts in a one-night only, immersive experience. Suggested for ages 13+. Onstage dance party to follow.
 Please note: Ominous will include strobe and atmospheric effects.

About Derek Brown
Derek Brown is a choreographer, dancer, and is the Artistic Director for Sax Lounge. Brown has worked with companies such as BET, FOX, Seagrams, TV One, Disney, Motown, Def Jam, Universal, J Records, Manhattan Records and Touchstone Films (STEP UP). Brown has worked with artists such as Chrisette Michelle, Mya, Pink, Tanu, Monica, Prince, Jennifer Hudson and Sean Paul’s music video, “She Doesn’t Mind”. Derek teaches for Joy of Motion Dance Center.
Our mission: to unite dance professionals, students, and audiences by providing exceptional dance education and performances that stimulate a universal love of dance. Our vision: a thriving, creative community that celebrates its diversity through dance.
A non-profit charitable organization founded in 1976, Joy of Motion Dance Center has since developed into the “the area’s most comprehensive dance institution” (Washington Post), engaging 60 faculty members and teaching artists, providing more than 300 weekly classes, and drawing nearly 9,000 unique students and artists annually to three studio locations (in two Wards of DC and in Bethesda, MD). With more than 40 years of history in the District, Joy of Motion has become the hub of a vast artistic community, committed to excellence both in high-level training and community-based arts experiences.
