About In Series
The In Series was founded in 1982-83 in Washington, DC, as The Concert Series at Mount Vernon College by Carla Hübner. It soon evolved into a professional presenter of music, dance and performance art, and gradually developed a distinctive profile as a producer of experimental chamber opera, Hispanic Heritage programming, and original cabaret/musical revues. By the time the In Series’ tenure at the College ended in June, 2000, it had earned a reputation for ‘bright, innovative productions, unlike anything else available in the Washington area’ (The Washington Post).
The In Series’ unique contribution to the cultural arts panorama of the DC metropolitan area is widely recognized, particularly in the innovative chamber opera genre. The beautiful spaces of GALA Hispanic Theatre and the Atlas Performing Arts Center as well as the Source are home for the In Series’ pocket-opera, cabaret/musical theatre, zarzuela (Spanish musical theatre) and Latino culture productions.
