About Capital City Symphony

Capital City Symphony (CCS) is a community orchestra based in Washington, D.C. that aims to provide high-quality, affordable classical concerts in a relaxed environment. Founded in 1967, CCS is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the 2017-18 season. Capital City Symphony’s Conductor and Artistic Director is Victoria Gau, who also serves as the Associate Conductor of the National Philharmonic and Conductor of the Takoma Ensemble.

CCS performs standard symphonic repertoire and explores the best of 20th and 21st-century music. The orchestra consists of approximately 100 volunteer musicians of all ages. CCS provides engaging and informative introductions to each program to help everyone enjoy the show and creates a relaxed atmosphere in which classical music is accessible to all.
