A Winter’s Day in the City is an intimate evening of American musical theatre songs from a French point of view. It features acclaimed vocalist Barbara Papendorp and pianist Amy Conley. These innovative artists will put their unique spin on music by Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, and Cole Porter.

Suitable for all ages.

About the performers:

Barbara Papendorp
 has performed in and around DC, singing in I Love Paris! A Bastille Day Celebration (La Maison Française), An American in Paris—Paris on the Potomac (Alliance Française of Washington, DC), and Renoir’s Return (The Phillips Collection). Barbara was a company member of French-American theatre company Le Neon Theatre. She has worked with many Washington theatre companies and studied at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and The British American Drama Academy in Oxford. She has also participated in the international theatre collective Rencontres Théâtrales in Corsica as well as co-starred in the USA premiere of French-language musical BIGOUDI. For more information, see www.BarbaraPapendorp.com and on Twitter, follow @chanteusedc.

In addition to being an accomplished singer and pianist, Amy Conley is also an actress and voice-over artist. A graduate of Berklee College of Music (Boston), Amy is active in several theatre groups in the Washington, DC area. She is a company member of Pallas Theatre Collective, and recently appeared in their new work Crazy Mary Lincoln: A New Musical. She has also been seen on the stages of Signature Theatre (Company u/s – performed, The Threepenny Opera u/s, and Beaches u/s – performed), The American Century Theatre (One Touch of Venus), and Little Theatre of Alexandria (Cabaret [WATCH nomination]), among others. She has also acted as Musical Director in many professional and community theatre productions and cabarets throughout the area.
The French-American Production Co. is an offshoot of D’un Rêve L’autre (From One Dream to Another) – a French-American theater company founded in 2011. Operating out of Paris and Washington, DC, the company works to modernize the French “chanson” and its style of theater.
